How to get to here (courses in Koh Pagnan)

All Yoga Thailand-Yoga House is located on a small, beautiful tropical island called Koh Phangan in the Gulf of Thailand, a small island near Koh Samui. Our Yoga house is situated up the hill from Lovelip Restaurant in Haad Tien Bay. This bay is nestled between Haad Rin Bay and Haad Wai Nam Bay in the southeast area of the island.

Traveling By Boat

We recommend two ferries that go to Koh Phangan from Samui.

1. Haad Rin Queen Ferry (Big Buddha Pier-Samui)

From Koh Samui airport, you'll need to take a taxi to the Big Buddha Pier. The ferry ride is approximately 45minute.
Ferry departures schedule: (Big Buddha Pier to Haad Rin Pier)
  • 10:30 am
  • 1:00 pm
  • 4:00 pm
  • 6:30 pm
For more information, go to the Haad Rin Queen Ferry website: Haad Rin Queen Ferry Website
Once you arrive in Haad Rin, you may take either a taxi boat (10 minute) or by truck (45 minute) to Haad Tien Bay. Depending on the weather, the taxi boats may not operate due to large waves. In that case, your only option is by truck. Price varies depending on the number of passengers. You can try your best to bargain. Generally, it should cost max 500baht if you're traveling with other passengers. If by chance, you're the only one, it may cost you as much as 3000++baht for a single trip.

2. Tong Nai Pan Ferry

Depending on the weather, Tong Nai Pan Ferry serves a direct route from Koh Samui to Haad Tien where we are located.

Traveling By Train

To travel from Bangkok to Koh Phangan by either train or bus takes about 2 days based on connection and travel time. This is a much cheaper alternate from flying. However, the journey can be quite rough and long. We only recommend traveling this way if you're on a tight budget or really up for an adventure!

Simply take a train from Bangkok to Surat Thani. On arrival at Surat Thani railway station, shuttle bus meets the train and takes you to the Don Sak ferry terminal. The bus is included if you've purchased the train+ferry fare.

Ferries sail every hour from Don Sak to Koh Samui, crossing time 1.5 hours. Some ferries continue to Koh Phangan. You can buy the combined train+ferry tickets at Bangkok Hualamphong station reservations office, or online for a small handling fee. For ticket information click below:

Thai Visa

Visa & Passport

To enter into Thailand you must have a passport valid for at least 6 months as from the date of entry.

Most nationalities can obtain a 30-day visa that is given upon entry.
If you are anticipating staying longer, then you should apply for a 60-day visa before leaving. It is always best to check with the Thai Embassy in your home country before traveling.

Other helpful tips:

Always carry toilet paper/tissue and hand sanitizer with you. This will be handy as some washroom facilities do not provide toilet paper. In a lot of the Thai style washroom facilities (squat toilet), you will see a water hose or bucket with water. It is for you to flush the toilet, and toilet paper is kept in a waste basket.

You can get your laundry done on the island for approx. 30 Baht/lb.

A photo-copy of your passport should be made and kept separate from your money and credit cards.

General Information about Koh Phangan and Thailand

In Thailand the head is considered to be the most revered and honoured part of the body and the feet are despised. Using your feet to point to anything or touching people on the head, even children, is considered disrespectful.

The local currency is the Thai Baht and it is the only currency that is excepted in most establishments. You can exchange cash, traveler’s cheques, and use your debit card and visa in Haad Rin through ATM’s, exchange centers, and banks. There are no banks/ATMs on Haad Tien/Haad Yuen area.

The local language is Thai. There are also many people from Burma living on the island and can only speak Burmese. You might find it puzzling when they don't understand when you greet them in Thai.

The Sanctuary is the only restaurant offering Wifi service in Haad Tien Bay. You can purchase wireless date package at the reception desk. On Haad Yuen beach, there's the Big Blue Internet. You can also do printing and photo copying there. The nearest post office is in Haad Rin.
